Hungarian Foreign Minister Criticizes Polish Government’s Stance on Peace
In a recent Facebook post, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjártó, criticized the leaders of the Polish government for their stance on peace and the rule of law. According to Szijjártó, the Polish government, along with the Brussels elite, seem to prioritize continuing the war over establishing peace.
Szijjártó stated, “While trampling on the rule of law in Poland—something Brussels elites seem to tolerate—they take it upon themselves to lecture us on what is in Europe’s best interest.” He emphasized that Hungary believes in peace and that there is a real opportunity to achieve it, especially with the efforts of Donald Trump.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister expressed his disappointment in the Polish government for obstructing peace negotiations and siding with the Brussels approach that isolates the European Union. Despite the majority of the world, including the United States and Hungary, advocating for peace, 26 EU member states, including Poland, voted to continue the war.
Szijjártó’s comments shed light on the divide within the EU regarding peace efforts and highlight the need for unity in pursuing peaceful solutions to conflicts. The criticism of the Polish government’s stance on peace reflects the ongoing tensions within the European Union.
