Hungarian Foreign Minister Sijjártó meets with new Austrian liberal counterpart
Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, has recently had a phone conversation with Austria’s new foreign minister, Beate Meinl-Reisinger. This marks the first opportunity for the two countries to work together, as Szijjártó expressed positive impressions of Meinl-Reisinger.
During the call, Szijjártó reassured Meinl-Reisinger that Hungary will continue to protect its southern border and prevent the entry of illegal migrants, a measure that also benefits Austria. Additionally, Austria is set to run for membership in the UN Security Council next year, and Hungary has pledged its support for this candidacy.
While they have yet to meet in person, Szijjártó is looking forward to the upcoming council meeting of foreign ministers where he will have the opportunity to personally engage with his new Austrian counterpart.
