Hungarian Government Denies Plans to Leave the EU

Hungarian Regional Development Minister, Tibor Navracsics, has reassured the public that the government has no plans to leave the European Union. During an interview with atv.hu, Navracsics revealed that the Orbán cabinet has formally requested the share of the EU’s recovery billions and emphasised that the possibility of the Commission cutting off funds did not arise despite a recent meeting with European Commissioner for Budget, Johannes Hahn. When asked about Hungary’s potential exit from the EU, Navracsics stated: “No, of course not. Brexit is proof that it is no longer possible to leave the EU in a good way.” His comments come as concerns over Hungary’s relationship with the EU continue to surface.
