Illegal Grazing Lands Returned to State Ownership
On March 27, 2025, in Bishkek, the 24.kg news agency reported that the Land and Water Supervision Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan discovered illegal activity involving the provision of a 6.17-hectare pasture land plot by Datka aiyl okmotu in Kara-Suu district of Osh region.
According to the Land Code’s regulations, pastures cannot be transferred to private ownership or lease. Additionally, the requirements outlined in the Regulation “On the procedure for registration and issuance of documents certifying rights to a land plot” were not followed in this case. As a result of these violations, the 6.17 hectares of illegally transferred pasture lands have been returned to the state.
This discovery highlights the importance of upholding land laws and regulations to protect valuable natural resources in Kyrgyzstan. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that such illegal activities are identified and rectified to preserve the integrity of the country’s land management system.
