Hungarian Leader Péter laid flowers at Novi Sad Railway Station in Serbia

Péter Magyar, the leader of the Tisza party, recently paid tribute to the victims of a tragic accident at the Novi Sad railway station in Serbia. The incident occurred in November, resulting in the collapse of the station’s facade, leading to the death of 15 individuals and injuring many others.
In a statement on Facebook, Magyar highlighted the powerful civilian protests that emerged following the accident, expressing a collective outcry against the perceived corrupt leadership in the region. He noted the significant demonstrations that took place in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and other cities in the months that followed.
The Serbian prime minister resigned in response to the protests, but Magyar pointed out that the position of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, a close ally and business partner of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, remained stable. Analysts attribute this stability to the lack of a strong, united opposition force in Serbia, unlike Tisza, which is seen as a viable alternative ready to govern.
Magyar emphasized Tisza’s support for the anti-corruption efforts of the Serbian people and their aspirations for swift European Union accession. Additionally, he reiterated the party’s commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of Vojvodina Hungarians, ensuring that individuals can thrive in their homeland.
The Tisza party’s stance underscores their dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and progress in the region, as they stand in solidarity with the Serbian people in their pursuit of a better future.
