Hungarian Official Ridicules EU Leader Kaja Kallas, Criticizes Brussels’ Lack of Influence

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas faced criticism from Hungarian cabinet official Balázs Hidvéghi following her recent visit to Washington, DC. Hidvéghi claimed that Brussels had only brought “shame” as Kallas was not received by anyone during her visit, highlighting what he perceives as a lack of influence in world politics on her part and the bloc’s.
In a post on Facebook, Hidvéghi dismissed Kallas’s efforts for peace, calling her out for what he described as “famous warmongering.” He questioned her credibility, especially considering her vocal support for sanctions against Russia, while her husband allegedly worked for Russian businesses. Hidvéghi went on to predict a shift in power dynamics with the “Trump tornado in Washington and the patriotic hurricane in Brussels” bringing a new perspective.
Kallas, however, remains steadfast in her support for Ukraine, declaring on Twitter that “Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine.” She vowed to increase support for Ukraine in their fight against aggression, emphasizing the need for a new leader in the free world and calling on Europeans to rise up to the challenge.
As tensions and differences of opinion continue to shape international relations, Kallas’s visit to Washington serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges facing global diplomacy.
