Hungarian PM Orbán Makes Surprise Visit to Asian Country with Family

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his family are currently on a private tour in India, according to reports from an Indian newspaper. The Orbán family, including his wife Anikó Lévai and two of their daughters, arrived in Kochi, South India, on a private visit. Kochi is a historic port city known for its shipyard and as the burial place of Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gamma.
The Orbán family’s visit to Kochi started on January 3rd, and they have already explored Fort Kochi and are set to visit other popular destinations in South India such as Munnar, known as the “Kashmir of South India.” They are scheduled to return from Kochi on January 16th after visiting various sights in the region.
The Indian news outlet also highlighted the tensions between Hungary and Poland, mentioning that the Hungarian ambassador to Warsaw had become persona non grata during the opening reception of the Polish EU presidency. Despite this, the Indian news outlet emphasized that Viktor Orbán’s visit to Kerala highlights the strong relationship between India and Hungary.
Independent MP Ákos Hadházy drew attention to the surprise visit of the Orbán family to India. This visit comes after PM Orbán was notably absent from social media following the New Year, with his only post being a tribute to Olympic Champion Agnes Keleti who passed away on January 1st.
Overall, the Orbán family’s visit to India has sparked interest and shed light on the relationship between India and Hungary. Stay tuned for more updates on their tour in South India.
