Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán Discusses National Strategy at Balaton Festival
At a recent event at the Tranzit Festival in Tihany, at Lake Balaton, Balázs Orbán, the prime minister’s political director, highlighted the importance of “the Hungarian grand strategy.” Orbán emphasized the need to defend the country and Christian culture from attacks, while also ensuring peace and development for the Hungarian people.
During a panel discussion with lawyer András Schiffer, a founder of opposition LMP and former MP, Orbán outlined the key objectives of the nation and strategic issues facing Hungary. He explained that the Hungarian grand strategy includes a focus on modernization, maintaining sovereignty, and fostering connectivity. By building connections in various areas and directions, Hungary aims to achieve its national goals and become a more developed country.
Schiffer, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of competitive production capacities for maintaining sovereignty, noting Hungary’s reliance on global supply chains. He also stressed the need to enhance energy independence as a priority.
Orbán praised Hungary’s economy for its ability to adapt quickly to global economic changes and lauded the country’s leadership in the EU in terms of renewable energy use.
In addition to discussing strategic issues, the event also addressed other current topics, including a Fidesz MEP’s altercation with a woman and Hungary’s role in assisting Russians and Belarusians fleeing to the EU.
Overall, the discussion at the Tranzit Festival shed light on the complexities of Hungary’s grand strategy and the country’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its interests and promote development.
