Hungary Refuses to Host Migrant Camps
Hungary’s stance on illegal immigration remains steadfast, as highlighted by the recent comments made by the Ministry of the Interior’s Secretary of State, Bence Rétvári. In a Facebook post, Rétvári reassured the public that as long as the Fidesz-KDNP coalition is in power, there will be no migrant camps in Hungary.
Rétvári revealed that Hungary has been slapped with a hefty fine of EUR 200 million for defying the European Union’s migration pact. Additionally, the country received another fine of EUR 1 million for its refusal to comply with the pact, stating that Hungary rejects the idea of hosting migrant camps at its borders and opposes the EU’s quota system for distributing migrants.
The Secretary of State expressed Hungary’s firm stand against submitting to the migration pact, describing the fines as unjust and disproportionate. He emphasized that Hungary will never establish migrant camps and will continue to protect its borders without resettling migrants en masse.
Criticism was also directed towards European leaders, with Rétvári calling out Manfred Weber of the European People’s Party for advocating migrant camps. Hungary’s solution to the issue of illegal immigration involves transporting migrants to Brussels instead, highlighting the government’s success in safeguarding its borders without allowing illegal migrants to enter the country.
Hungary’s unwavering stance on illegal immigration and rejection of EU fines showcases the government’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and protecting its borders. The country remains adamant in its refusal to accept mass migration and migrant camps, prioritizing its national security and integrity.
