Hungary Seeks Civilized Cooperation, Says FM Szijjártó
Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, emphasized the importance of “civilised cooperation” between East and West in a recent Facebook post. Szijjártó expressed concern about the current global security situation, stating that it may be the most precarious since the end of the Cold War.
Reflecting on Hungary’s history, Szijjártó noted the detrimental effects of past hostilities between East and West. He stressed that Hungary’s interest lies in fostering civilised cooperation, as it ultimately benefits the country. According to Szijjártó, dialogue is the foundation of civilised cooperation, and closing off communication channels hinders the possibility of peaceful coexistence.
Highlighting the significance of international forums, Szijjártó underscored the importance of the Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Skopje. He noted that the meeting, attended by his US and Russian counterparts, provides an opportunity for constructive dialogue and cooperation.
Szijjártó expressed hope that more frequent communication between global powers will lead to a more peaceful future. As tensions persist between East and West, Hungary’s foreign minister advocates for dialogue and cooperation as essential components of international relations.
