Hungary Selected to Play Key Role in Turkey’s ‘Year of Families’
Hungary and Turkey have announced plans to make 2025 the Hungarian-Turkish Year of Innovation, focusing on artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the collaboration of universities and innovation systems. This initiative was discussed by Balázs Hankó, the Hungarian Minister of Culture and Innovation, during the closing event of the Turkish-Hungarian cultural year in Ankara.
The cultural year, which featured over 170 events in 16 cities across Turkey, was deemed a great success with one and a half million visitors. Following this achievement, Hungary and Turkey have agreed to continue their cultural cooperation, with plans for further collaborative programs and exhibitions.
Minister Hankó also highlighted the launch of 24 innovation projects in 2025, covering various fields such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, agriculture, and defense policy. Additionally, the Year of Families in Türkiye will see Hungary playing a major role, with a focus on sharing successful family practices and initiatives.
Furthermore, discussions with Turkish officials also led to agreements on joint graduate courses between the University of Ankara and Hungarian universities in areas like Hungarian studies, engineering, political science, and pharmacy. Plans for educational support, cultural exchanges, and the introduction of the Pannonia scholarship program were also discussed.
The Hungarian-Turkish Year of Innovation promises to strengthen the ties between the two countries and foster collaboration in key areas of technology, education, and culture. This initiative sets a positive tone for future partnerships between Hungary and Turkey.
