Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Discusses Clean Water Access with International Consortium
Bishkek – 11:10, 07 March 2025 – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, recently held a meeting with the Regional Director of the International Consortium H2O, Zoltan Benko, to discuss the important issue of providing the population of Kyrgyzstan with clean drinking water.
During the meeting, the parties talked about the construction of treatment facilities and the development of the irrigation system in the country. Torobaev emphasized the significance of ensuring access to quality water, particularly in rural areas where the water supply infrastructure is in need of modernization. He stressed the importance of not only building new treatment facilities in major cities but also creating conditions for the protection of water resources in remote regions.
Zoltan Benko shared the company’s expertise in water management and proposed potential solutions for Kyrgyzstan. Special focus was placed on preserving the ecosystem of Issyk-Kul Lake, with Benko suggesting the adaptation of successful technologies from Lake Balaton to safeguard the unique natural environment of Issyk-Kul.
Torobaev highlighted that key areas of focus include the construction of modern treatment facilities, the enhancement of irrigation systems, and the implementation of innovative water usage methods in the country.
The discussion between the Minister and the International Consortium underscores the ongoing efforts to improve water access and quality in Kyrgyzstan, with a particular emphasis on sustainable development and environmental preservation.
