Hungary’s National Day Celebrated in Bishkek
A reception was held in Bishkek to celebrate the national holiday of Hungary on October 23. This date commemorates the anti-communist Hungarian uprising of 1956 and the Day of the Proclamation of the Hungarian Republic in 1989.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Kyrgyzstan, Sandor Dorogi, emphasized the heroism and strength of spirit of the Hungarian people in their quest for independence and justice during the event. Prominent government officials, public figures, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, deputies, artists, activists, and others gathered to congratulate him and the diplomatic corps.
Sandor Dorogi highlighted the strong relations between Hungary and the Kyrgyz Republic, despite the geographical distance, emphasizing the fraternal bond between the two nations. He mentioned the dynamic development of relations in recent years, including several mutual visits by the leadership of both countries. He also announced an upcoming official visit by Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Kyrgyzstan, aiming to strengthen friendly and partnership relations.
The Ambassador pointed out that trade turnover between the countries has doubled in the past year, and he invited attendees to the Days of Hungarian Cinema in Bishkek. Deputy Foreign Minister Aibek Moldogaziev conveyed the country’s commitment to enhancing partnership and ties with Hungary in various fields, including the economy, culture, and education.
Moldogaziev expressed gratitude for Hungary’s cooperation, such as the establishment of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the allocation of study places for Kyrgyz students under the Stipendium Hungaricum program. He anticipated that high-level meetings would create new opportunities for collaboration and further strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two nations.
The evening continued with a taste of Hungarian dishes, casual conversations, and networking opportunities, fostering new and meaningful acquaintances.
