Hunnu Air to Begin Direct Flights from Mongolia to Uzbekistan

Mongolian private airline, Hunnu Air, is set to launch direct flights between Tashkent and Ulaanbaatar in the second half of this year, as reported by Uzbekistan Airports. The companies recently engaged in negotiations focusing on cooperation, with a key agenda item being the establishment of regular flights on the Tashkent–Ulaanbaatar route. It is anticipated that these flights will be serviced by Embraer 190 aircraft.

The notion of establishing direct air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Mongolia was initially broached in November 2023. At the time, it was asserted that the introduction of such flights would not only increase transit flights but also enhance the import of Uzbek fruits and vegetables.

In a meeting between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh in the summer of 2024, the topic of direct flights was discussed, resulting in the signing of an agreement on air transportation between the two nations.

Hunnu Air, which has been in operation since 2011 and has been operating under its current name since 2013, is based at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar, with flight services to Beijing, Manzhouli, Ordos, and Almaty. The airline possesses a fleet consisting of three aircraft, including ATR 72-500 and Embraer 190 models.

Additionally, it was previously reported by Kun.uz that both Uzbekistan and Mongolia are planning to implement an electronic system for freight transport permits. This move signifies the continuous efforts to enhance connectivity and facilitate trade between the two countries.
