Hür-İş’s Minimum Wage Case Postponed to March 10

The Federation of Free Workers’ Unions (Hür-İş) has been fighting for a minimum wage increase, but the decision has been postponed to March 10. Hür-İş President Ahmet Serdaroğlu expressed frustration in a written statement, highlighting that the government is trying to delay the process by not presenting any defense to the court.

The case will continue on March 10, as confirmed by Serdaroğlu, who emphasized, “We will not allow the other party to derail our efforts.” This delay comes after the Minimum Wage Determination Commission objected to the initial minimum wage decision made on January 17.

After evaluating the objections, the Commission decided to increase the minimum wage to 43,469 TL gross and 37,818 TL net, effective from January 1. However, the workers’ representatives walked out of the meeting, disagreeing with this decision.

Hür-İş, arguing for a 7.5 percent increase in the minimum wage, took the matter to the Supreme Administrative Court (YİM), leading to the commencement of legal proceedings on February 10. The ongoing battle for a fair minimum wage continues, with the hopes of achieving better outcomes for workers in the near future.
