Hür-İş’s Minimum Wage Case Postponed to March 17

The Federation of Free Workers’ Unions (Hür-İş) is currently in a legal battle against the minimum wage increase, which they argue is below the cost of living and goes against the law. The case has been postponed to March 17th for further proceedings.

Ahmet Serdaroğlu, the President of Hur-Is, expressed concerns over the determination of the minimum wage and stated that it was based on economic data presented by the opposing party during a brief statement to the Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK) correspondent. He also mentioned that the next hearing is scheduled for March 17th, where legal actions will be discussed further.

The issue arose when the minimum wage determination Commission objected to the minimum wage decided on January 17th. Despite the objections, the commission approved a minimum wage of 43,469 TL gross and 37,818 TL net, effective January 1st, with a 7.5 percent increase. This decision led to Hür-İş taking the matter to the Supreme Administrative Court (YİM), with the first hearing taking place on February 10th.

The legal battle surrounding the minimum wage increase continues, with both parties preparing for the upcoming hearing on March 17th. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing issue.
