Ibrahim Ozden Kaboglu Elected President of Istanbul Bar Association
İbrahim Özden Kaboğlu, a member of the Lawyers for Change Group, was elected as the new president of the Istanbul Bar Association during the Ordinary General Assembly. The assembly, which took place at the Haliç Congress Center, saw 12 candidates competing for the position, with a total of 161 ballot boxes set up.
With 64,072 lawyers eligible to vote, the ballot boxes closed at 17.00. As the ballot box officials began counting the votes, lawyers eagerly followed the results displayed on the screen. Ultimately, İbrahim Özden Kaboğlu emerged as the victor, receiving 7,219 votes.
The election featured a diverse group of candidates, including members from various lawyer groups such as İlke Çağdaş Lawyers Group, Rise of the Lawyer Movement Group, Strong Bar Association for Change Group, and Young Law Movement Group. Additionally, two independent candidates, Yasin Şen and Savaş İşleyen, also participated in the election.
In another bar association election, Gökhan Ağdemir was elected as the President of Ankara Bar Association No. 2. Competing against the incumbent President Sabri Işık, Ağdemir secured victory with 883 votes, while Işık received 781 votes.
