Tragedy Strikes in Taksim: 11-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Hit by Bus
A heartbreaking incident occurred in Taksim on December 14, shaking the community to its core. 11-year-old Nesrin left home at 16:00 to attend a Quran course in Taksim but never returned. Concerned relatives began searching for her when she didn’t come back by 19:00, only to receive devastating news from the police at 22:00.
Nesrin’s father, Hakkı Cuma, was informed that his daughter had been struck by an IETT bus. Rushing to Taksim Training and Research Hospital, the family received the tragic news that Nesrin had passed away. Her body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue for further examination, while the bus driver, identified as Hüseyin S., was taken into custody.
In the midst of their grief, Nesrin’s family reported the incident to the police and filed a complaint against the bus driver. However, the court’s decision to release Hüseyin S. under judicial control sparked outrage. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office objected to the decision, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
As the community mourns the loss of young Nesrin, questions surrounding road safety and accountability arise.
