Strengthening Global Cooperation: Azerbaijan’s Commitment to the Non-Aligned Movement
In a recent press statement, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan underscored the country’s dedication to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) during a meeting with To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s four-year chairmanship of NAM, which he believes left a significant legacy and continues to play a vital role in modern international relations.
President Aliyev stated, "Today, we are cooperating within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement. Strengthening NAM as a more robust institution serves the interests of both countries." This declaration showcases Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to fostering international cooperation in a multipolar world.
The discussion also touched upon the paramount importance of international law, with both leaders expressing aligned views on its role in resolving global disputes. "All issues must be resolved within the framework of international law, based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of borders of states," Aliyev emphasized. He firmly believes that all disputes should be settled through negotiations and peaceful means, aligning with Azerbaijan’s diplomatic approach.
The reaffirmation of these principles comes at a time when the global landscape is facing numerous challenges, making the role of international institutions like NAM more critical than ever. Azerbaijan’s active involvement in this movement reflects its strategic interests and commitment to peace and stability on the international stage.
As the conversation continues around the essential role of the Non-Aligned Movement, both Azerbaijan and Vietnam appear poised to collaborate further, advocating for a world where dialogue and adherence to international law guide relations among nations.
