Illegal Buildings in Vaniköy Successfully Demolished

The Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, made an announcement on a live broadcast on Habertürk TV regarding the completion of the demolition of illegal construction in Vaniköy. He mentioned that the next step would involve landscaping to replant the trees and repair the damage caused. The Provincial Directorate will be monitoring the progress of this restoration process.

Minister Kurum also issued a warning to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) in regards to illegal construction along the Bosphorus. He emphasized the importance of stopping such activities and carrying out demolitions promptly. The Minister highlighted that there have been numerous instances of illegal constructions along the Bosphorus and urged all of Turkey to take notice of these actions.

The unauthorized construction in the Bosphorus View Area in Üsküdar Vaniköy was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change on August 22. After conducting inspections, it was discovered that the construction had begun with permission from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality but was later halted. The area previously belonged to Adnan Oktar, an organized crime ringleader, and was recently acquired by a Russian businessman.

Legal action was taken against Boris Borisenko, the owner of the unauthorized construction in Vaniköy, by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for violating the Bosphorus Law and causing zoning pollution. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change filed criminal complaints with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for causing damage to protected areas and assets.

Recently, teams from the Ministry began demolishing the illegal structures in Vaniköy. The Ministry assured that they were closely monitoring the situation and following up on the legal proceedings against those responsible for the unauthorized construction. This action serves as a reminder that illegal construction activities will not be tolerated and that the authorities are committed to protecting the environment and upholding the law.
