Illegal Goods Seized at Manas Airport
Contraband Cargo of Dental Implants and Computer Components Detained at Manas Airport
On August 24, 2024, a contraband cargo consisting of dental implants, spare parts for them, instruments, and personal computer components was intercepted at Manas airport. The State Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that during the inspection of baggage from an Asiana Airlines flight on the Incheon-Almaty-Bishkek route, a citizen of the Republic of Korea was detained for attempting to illegally import these products.
In total, 761 pieces of dental products and computer components were seized, with an average market value of 3,198,465 soms. Customs duties totaling 844,744 soms are also due for these items.
The materials confiscated have been handed over to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic for further investigation. It is crucial to crack down on smuggling activities to protect the integrity of the country’s borders and ensure fair trade practices.
