Illegal Sale of Agricultural Land for Burials in Orok Village
Bishkek, April 17, 2025 – A 68-year-old man has been arrested by officers from the 4th Division of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for illegally selling agricultural land for burial purposes in the village of Orok near Bishkek.
The local resident, identified as M.B., was found to have organized an unauthorized cemetery on a hill above the closed Southwest city cemetery. Burial plots were being sold at a price of 40,000 soms each.
The case has been officially registered, and the investigation is being conducted by the Internal Affairs Department of Leninsky district in collaboration with the local prosecutor’s office.
An operation was carried out, resulting in the arrest of M.B. while receiving payment for one of the burial plots. A criminal case has been initiated, and the investigation is currently ongoing to identify other individuals involved in this illegal scheme.
The authorities are working diligently to address this issue and ensure that justice is served.
