Imamoglu Expert Indicted: Türkiye News Update
Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu, is currently facing a new investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor’s office has prepared an indictment against Imamoglu and is requesting a penalty ranging from 2 to 4 years of imprisonment.
The investigation stems from allegations that Imamoglu had improperly influenced expert reports and public cases in his favor. During a press conference, Imamoglu vehemently denied the accusations, claiming that the expert’s reports in question were biased and influenced by external factors.
Imamoglu directly addressed the Minister of Justice, stating, “We are not swayed by pressure or influences. I will present the evidence to support my innocence.” He went on to allege that there was a clear intention to target him in every case opened against him.
