New Legislation Changes Coming to Uzbekistan in 2025
Uzbekistan is set to introduce several key changes to its legislation, with effect from January 1, 2025. These changes, highlighted by Kun.uz, cover a wide range of areas and aim to enhance various aspects of governance and daily life in the country.
One of the significant changes is the implementation of a national time scale, UTC UZ, as the official time of Uzbekistan. This move, outlined in a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, will be overseen by the State Institution of Uzbekistan’s National Metrology Institute to ensure the efficient operation of the time service.
Moreover, new types of tourism will be introduced from January 1, 2025, including Industrial Tourism, Geological Tourism, Scientific Tourism, Military Tourism, and State-Administrative Tourism. The Ministry of Defense will also offer services for tourists to explore military history and equipment at various sites.
In another noteworthy change, the use of wild animals in circus performances will be prohibited starting January 1, 2025. A resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers outlines strict regulations on the storage and use of wild animals, with measures in place to transfer them to zoos or nurseries.
Furthermore, employees working in state cultural institutions and organizations can expect an increase in their wages, with a gradual raise planned for January 1 and July 1, 2025, as per a presidential resolution. Additionally, a new KPI system will be introduced to assess employee performance.
Other changes include abolishing financial penalties for unregistered entrepreneurs, discontinuing the temporary acceptance of children from low-income families into orphanages, and implementing electronic bracelets for remote monitoring of individuals under house arrest.
Subsidies will also be provided for installing drip irrigation systems, and various improvements will be made in areas such as housing, agriculture, labor rights, and environmental monitoring.
These legislative changes signal Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing governance, promoting tourism, protecting wildlife, improving social services, and supporting economic development. The upcoming reforms are expected to have a positive impact on the country’s progress and citizens’ well-being.
