IndiGo, the largest airline in India, is set to begin operating flights on the Delhi-Bishkek-Delhi route. This announcement was made by Rajan Malhotra, Vice President for Airline Partnerships and Aeropolitical Affairs at the company, during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to India.

The Government of India has officially appointed IndiGo as the carrier for this route, granting the company permission to operate flights seven days a week. In light of this development, Askar Beshimov has expressed willingness to provide full support in promoting the issue further. Additionally, Indian citizens holding long-term multiple visas to the USA, Great Britain, and Schengen countries are eligible for a visa-free regime allowing them to stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 7 days with the option to re-enter after 21 days.

Both parties have agreed to collaborate in the tourism sector, paving the way for increased travel opportunities between the two countries.

As of May 2024, IndiGo holds a domestic market share of 61.6% and operates over 2,000 daily flights to 122 destinations, including 88 domestic and 34 international routes. The airline’s main hub is located at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

This new flight route is expected to enhance connectivity between India and Kyrgyzstan, offering travelers more options and convenience for their journeys.
