Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly Comes to Tashkent for the First Time in Central Asia
The 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is set to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from April 5th to 9th, 2025. This historic event will be the first of its kind in Central Asia, bringing together around 2,000 delegates from 181 countries, along with 15 observer states and more than 25 international organizations.
With the theme of “Parliamentary action for social development and justice,” the assembly will focus on key issues such as poverty reduction, improving working conditions, and promoting social inclusion. The forum will commence with the presence of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
This gathering highlights the growing importance of Central Asia on the global stage, showcasing the region’s desire for active participation in international affairs. The Inter-Parliamentary Union, established in 1889, serves as a crucial platform for national parliaments to collaborate and enhance international cooperation.
