Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Emphasizes Justice Belongs in the Court, Not on the Street
260 Suspects Arrested by Magistrate Criminal Court Within Scope of Investigation
260 suspects who were referred to the court within the scope of an investigation were arrested by the Magistrate Criminal Court. Among these suspects, 124 were put under judicial control measures, including not leaving their housing. The judiciary is currently overseeing the proceedings of the suspects related to the investigation.
In a statement, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya condemned the actions that threatened the peace of the country. He highlighted the attacks on police officers and the disregard for spiritual values. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that justice should prevail in courtrooms, not on the streets.
The Minister stressed that democracy in Turkey is strong and rooted in the will of the nation. He questioned the use of violence and weapons in protests, asking whether it was a legitimate exercise of democratic rights. Minister Yerlikaya expressed concern over the injuries sustained by 150 policemen during the actions.
As the country approaches the end of Ramadan, Minister Yerlikaya called for vigilance on the roads to prevent traffic accidents. He highlighted the importance of patience and safe driving during the upcoming holiday.
In total, 260 suspects have been arrested in connection with the investigation. The Minister’s hope is that the upcoming holiday season will be one of joy and celebration, rather than tragedy.
