Interior Minister Yerlikaya Reports Acid Attack on Police Officer During Demonstrations in Saraçhane
Interior Minister Yerlikaya took to social media to report that acid had been thrown at a police officer during the demonstrations held in Saraçhane. The Minister shared a photo of the uniform of the officer who was attacked in a post about the corruption and terrorist investigation launched by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
“In the demonstrations held in Saraçhane at night, a police officer was attacked with acid. Those who incite violence on the streets should consider the consequences of their actions,” Minister Yerlikaya stated in his social media post.
A total of 323 suspects were detained in connection with the actions of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality investigation. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that no attempts to disrupt public order will be tolerated.
The attack on the police officer has sparked outrage and calls for increased security measures during demonstrations in Istanbul. Authorities are working to ensure the safety of all individuals involved in peaceful protests while cracking down on those who seek to cause harm or instigate violence.
