International Athletes Flock to Astana City Marathon
The Astana City Marathon, held on Oct. 13, attracted a total of 2,300 participants, including individuals from 18 different countries. Despite the chilly -6 degrees Celsius weather, runners from places such as the Kyrgyz Republic, China, the Netherlands, Kenya, Russia, and France gathered to take part in the event.
The marathon, which is part of the World Athletics Road Race Label series, offered various race categories for participants to choose from. These included the 42,195-kilometer individual marathon, the Ekiden 42,195-kilometer team relay, a 10-kilometer run, and a 10-kilometer Nordic walking event.
Among the participants, 383 individuals completed the 10-kilometer race, while 73 people successfully finished the main marathon distance of 42,195 kilometers. The race route took runners through some of the most beautiful places and streets in the capital city.
The event proved to be a success, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and showcasing the spirit of athleticism and community. Despite the cold weather, the runners pushed through and completed their respective races, demonstrating resilience and determination.
