International Jazz Icons Headline Hungarian Jazz Days in Bucharest

The 6th Bucharest Hungarian Jazz Days are set to take place between October 7-11, featuring world-renowned jazz musicians, Hungarian jazz dynasties, educators, and emerging talents. The event, organized by the Liszt Institute’s Bucharest center, has become a staple in the Bucharest jazz scene since its inception in 2019.

András László Kósa, the director of the Hungarian cultural institute in Bucharest, highlighted that the festival offers a unique opportunity for the Romanian capital’s audience to experience a comprehensive overview of the Hungarian jazz scene, making it the only music festival in Bucharest to focus on another country’s jazz culture.

The lineup includes performances by Ferenc Snétberger, Tony Lakatos, János Egri Jr., Krisztián Oláh, Kálmán Oláh Jr., and the band Symbiosis5. The various concerts will take place at different venues in Bucharest, showcasing the diversity and talent within the Hungarian jazz community.

Furthermore, as part of the Hungarian Jazz Days, a masterclass will be conducted by jazz pianist and composer Krisztián Oláh, providing an opportunity for university students, music high school students, and jazz enthusiasts to delve into the intricacies of improvisational music on October 9.

Additionally, the event will feature a concert by Symbiosis5 at the Green Hours Jazz Café, marking the conclusion of the 6th Hungarian Jazz Days. The band, recognized for their achievements at international competitions, will also perform in Sibiu and Oradea as part of a concert series in Romania.

The Bucharest Hungarian Jazz Days serve as a platform to celebrate and promote Hungarian jazz culture, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration between musicians and audiences in Bucharest and Hungary.
