TRT Documentary to Premiere Series on Turkish Cypriot Struggle for Existence
TRT Documentary is set to broadcast a groundbreaking documentary series that delves into the just cause and struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriots. The series, titled “To the Goal-Scoring Front”, will explore the role of football in the Turkish Cypriot’s fight for survival and in the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization.
The first episode of the series will air today at 20:00 on TRT Documentary screens, with narration provided by researcher and academician Erdal Hoş. Through interviews, testimonies, and archival footage, the documentary sheds light on the resistance movement formed in and around Çetinkaya Turkish Sports Club, the champion team of Turkish Cypriot football. It also explores the secret intelligence activities of the Turkish Resistance Organization, as well as the leadership roles played by Rauf Denktaş and Dr. Fazıl Küçük, along with the support provided by Turkey.
