New Regulation Allows Convicts on Coronavirus Leave to Check Execution Status
The implementation of a new legal regulation regarding convicts on coronavirus leave is set to begin on July 31st. The General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, under the Ministry of Justice, has determined the implementation principles for this new regulation.
According to the new rules, convicts on coronavirus leave will have the ability to check their execution status starting from July 20th. This can be done through the “inquire about prisoner execution information” screen on the Ministry of Justice’s e-Government platform. Additionally, convicts will also receive an information message on their mobile phones.
Furthermore, an important change has been made for convicts with less than 5 years remaining on their probation. Starting from July 31st, convicts on covid-19 leave will not be sent back to prison if they have 5 years or less left on their sentence. Instead, the remaining time will be served through probation.
It is worth noting that if convicts who have received a probation decision from the execution judges fail to apply to the probation directorates within 5 days, they will be sent to open penitentiary institutions. On the other hand, those who need to be transferred back to open prisons will be returned between August 1st and August 15th.
In related news, it has been speculated whether open prison permits will be extended. The Ministry of Justice has made a statement clarifying that the 5-year sentence rule for probation remains in place. Therefore, the extension of open prison permits has not been approved.
With these new regulations, the Ministry of Justice aims to ensure proper management and monitoring of convicts on coronavirus leave while maintaining the principles of the legal system.
