Introducing Electronic Truck Queue System at Kyzyl-Kiya Checkpoint
On September 3, 2024, the 24.kg news agency reported that a pilot project on electronic queue management for trucks has been launched at the Kyzyl-Kiya border checkpoint in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan announced that this initiative is part of the efforts to optimize logistics processes and facilitate cross-border trade in line with the Concept for Development of the Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2024.
Supported by the International Trade Center and financed by the European Union, the project will run from November 1 to December 15. The primary objective of implementing an electronic queue system is to expedite border crossings, reduce logistics expenses, and enhance conditions for participants in foreign trade, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.
In preparation for the project, representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Customs Service, and the International Trade Center visited the Kyzyl-Kiya checkpoint on August 27 to familiarize themselves with the new system. Additionally, a workshop was conducted during the visit to train Customs and Border Service personnel on the transition to utilizing new technologies.
Overall, the electronic queue management project at the Kyzyl-Kiya border checkpoint aims to streamline operations, cut costs, and improve the trading environment for businesses engaging in cross-border activities.
