Iran-Uzbekistan Trade Route: Accessing Persian Gulf Markets via Bushehr

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Faridun Nasriev, recently met with Ahmad Mohammadizadeh, the governor of Bushehr province, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various sectors. The meeting highlighted the importance of elevating inter-regional cooperation to a new level, focusing on trade, economy, investment, tourism, and cultural relations.
Mohammadizadeh praised the official visit of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Tehran in June 2023, emphasizing the significance of ongoing dialogues between the leaders in strengthening bilateral ties. He expressed interest in establishing relationships with regions in Uzbekistan, noting the opportunity for Uzbekistan to access markets in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait through the port in Bushehr.
The Iranian side also offered to allocate land for Uzbekistan in the “Bushehr” free economic zone, highlighting the region’s expertise in exporting dates and small shrimp products. Suggestions were made to facilitate reciprocal visits by business community representatives and organize joint art exhibitions to boost trade relations.
Bushehr province is known for its key economic sectors including oil and gas extraction, chemistry, oil refining, agriculture, fisheries, and tourism. The region is home to Bandar Bushehr, one of Iran’s most important ports and a significant free economic zone after Bandar Abbas.
The productive meeting between the Uzbekistan Ambassador and the Bushehr governor signals a promising future for collaboration between the two countries across various fields, paving the way for mutual growth and development.
