Iraq Security Summit Commences – Breaking News
The second security summit, originally held in Ankara in December, has now shifted to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. The primary focus of the summit is to establish a common understanding in the fight against terrorism and to outline concrete steps that can be taken in this direction.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his delegation are at the forefront of the discussions, working towards enhancing cooperation between Turkey and Iraq. The ongoing efforts to combat the terrorist organization PKK in Iraq are a key area of focus, with plans to strengthen relations between the two countries through the Development Road Project. This project aims to establish a direct commercial route from the Persian Gulf of Iraq to Turkey.
Energy issues are also on the agenda at the security summit in Baghdad. Discussions will include the development of natural gas resources in Iraq and their distribution to international markets, as well as the potential resumption of the Iraq-Turkey oil line.
Looking ahead, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to make a visit to Iraq in April, further solidifying the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
