Issyk-Kul Mudflow Victims Receive Keys to New Homes
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, recently presented keys to new houses to residents of Sadyr Ake rural district in Issyk-Kul region. These residents were affected by mudflows that occurred in several villages within the district due to heavy rains on August 18, 2024.
The mudflows resulted in significant damage to residential buildings, agricultural lands, resorts, and other facilities. In response, the government allocated a one-time financial assistance of 75,900 million soms from the fund of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to help those affected.
Based on the collected documents, the funds were distributed to the affected individuals as follows: 32 people received 1 million soms each, 41 people received 500,000 soms each, and 234 people received 100,000 soms each.
In Sadyr Ake, where 29 residential buildings were deemed unsuitable for habitation, progress has been made in providing new housing. Five houses have already been built, three residents have purchased homes in other locations, and construction is underway for 21 additional houses.
Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the importance of having a secure and stable home, especially during challenging times. He highlighted the role of home insurance in providing financial protection and ensuring stability for the future.
Additionally, Kasymaliev inspected the efforts to prevent future mudflows and checked on the progress of construction work on the At Jailoo canal. The government remains committed to supporting the residents of Issyk-Kul region and implementing necessary measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
