Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has recently revealed that Istanbul Airport has once again claimed the title of the busiest airport in Europe. According to the European Aviation Overview Report by EUROCONTROL, Istanbul Airport has an average of 1352 flights per day, surpassing major European airports in cities such as London, Amsterdam, and Paris.
In addition to Istanbul Airport’s success, Sabiha Gökçen Airport also made its mark on the list, ranking 10th with a daily average of 662 flights. Minister Uraloğlu highlighted Turkey’s overall performance in terms of air traffic volume, noting that the country ranks 6th in Europe with an average of 2,511 flights per day.
Furthermore, Turkey’s airspace has been recognized as one of the most efficient in Europe, with a delay time of less than 0.5 minutes per flight. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the country’s achievement in minimizing flight delays, showcasing Turkey’s commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient air travel operations.
