Istanbul Groom’s Massacre: Caught on Camera
A tragic incident took place in the Double Pools neighborhood on Friday, March 28, as Mahmut U. (50) got into an argument with his father-in-law, Mahmut Akkaya (68), in front of his father-in-law’s house. The situation escalated and Akkaya, after moving towards his house, fired three shots at his son-in-law.
Unfortunately, the bullets hit Mahmut Akkaya, causing him to collapse. The groom fled the scene as soon as the armed attack happened, and health and police teams were called to the scene.
Despite the efforts of medical teams, Akkaya was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The moments leading up to the tragic event were captured on a security camera at the workplace.
Authorities from the Esenler Public Security Bureau examined the security footage and were able to identify the attacker. Mahmut U. was later found at his home and was discovered to have attempted suicide with the same weapon used in the attack. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
It was revealed that Mahmut U. was going through a divorce with his wife, which led to problems with his father-in-law. The investigation into this heartbreaking incident is ongoing.
