Istanbul’s Taxi Stands to Undergo Renewal, Says Minister Institution
Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, recently attended the May meeting of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and later met with taxi drivers at Üsküdar Boğaziçi Life Center. During his speech at the ITO meeting, Minister Kurum emphasized the importance of businesspeople in the development of Turkey’s trade, thanking them for their efforts toward the growth of Istanbul’s industry and trade. He noted that Istanbul’s economy is getting stronger day by day, and it is thanks to the businesspeople in the region who create and produce employment.
Minister Kurum expressed his gratitude toward the 700,000 members of ITO and said that their responsibility for the development and future of the country was invaluable. The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce is currently supporting the independence and freedom that symbolize the Turkish people, and they stand for national and domestic production.
In his meeting with taxi drivers, Kurum stated that the taxi profession is built on trust and loyalty and that he is working to improve the conditions for taxi drivers. He recognized the complaints of taxi drivers and assured them that the government is working to address these issues. The government is renewing all taxi stands in Istanbul and protecting the rights of taxi drivers, including the license plates given to them in tender.
Kurum also spoke about the recent withdrawal of Muharrem İnce from the presidential candidacy, stating that such games are not in the minds of the Turkish people but the minds of groups like FETO and PKK. Despite these challenges, the government will continue to work with its people to move forward and build a stronger nation.
