A heated dispute between two groups in a café in the district of Izmir turned into a deadly armed conflict, resulting in 5 deaths and 2 injuries. The incident occurred in the evening, with both parties reportedly having enmity due to receivables and payables, and coming together to discuss the matter.
As the argument escalated, gunfire erupted and customers in the coffee shop fled in a state of panic. The sound of gunshots created further anxiety in the surrounding area, prompting calls to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police and medical teams arrived at the scene shortly after, but the fight had already claimed the lives of Timuçin Altınel, Süreyya Bayrak, Barış Coşgun, Rıdvan Bağcalı, and Ozancan Doğan. Two others, MY and AK, were injured in the fight.
The police have launched an extensive investigation into the incident. The tragedy has left the local community in shock and raised concerns about the need for stricter gun control laws.
