
Jeenbek Kulubaev Attends SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting

Bishkek – On May 21, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on the event.
During his speech, Jeenbek Kulubaev highlighted the importance of the SCO entering a new stage of development amidst a challenging global and regional backdrop. He emphasized the necessity for a long-term strategy to utilize the Organization’s potential in addressing emerging challenges and threats. The Kyrgyz side particularly emphasized the significance of adopting the SCO Development Strategy until 2035.
Additionally, to enhance cooperation and deepen ties with interested countries and international organizations, the Kyrgyz representatives emphasized the importance of establishing a Roadmap for strengthening cooperation between SCO member states and dialogue partners.
The foreign ministers also discussed the preparations for the substantive part of the upcoming Astana summit in July 2024. Following the meeting, several decisions of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers on relevant and promising issues of interaction within the Organization were signed.
Furthermore, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states had the opportunity to meet with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the commitment of the SCO member states to enhance collaboration and address key regional and global challenges as they work towards a more prosperous and stable future.
