Jeyhun Bayramov meets with UN representative to discuss mine threat mitigation cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, recently met with Alexander Zuev, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Rule of Law and Security Institutions, to discuss cooperation in addressing the threat posed by landmines. The meeting, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, focused on various aspects of Azerbaijan-UN collaboration, as well as the regional and international landscape.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of joint efforts and international support in countering the mine threat, which not only endangers the lives and health of Azerbaijani citizens but also hinders the return process and challenges the country’s peacebuilding and reconstruction initiatives. Additionally, topics of mutual interest were discussed to further strengthen cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN.
The meeting highlights the commitment of Azerbaijan to eliminating the threat of landmines and working towards long-term peace and stability in the region. Further collaboration and support from the international community will be crucial in addressing this ongoing challenge.
