JICA to Provide $200 Million Loan for Livestock Farming in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan to Receive $40 Million Investment for Leather Industry Development
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced its plans to allocate credit resources for the development of the leather industry in Uzbekistan. A total of $200 million will be provided as part of the project “Livestock Development in Uzbekistan,” with $40 million specifically designated for the leather processing and production of leather goods.
A delegation from Uzbekistan recently visited Tokyo, where the head of the association, Fakhriddin Boboyev, met with JICA Vice-President Sachiko Imoto to discuss the financing of the project. The funding will not only support livestock farming, poultry farming, and fisheries but also contribute to the growth of the country’s leather industry.
The investment is expected to facilitate the implementation of new investment projects and increase production volumes of leather goods. This, in turn, will create opportunities to increase exports with high added value. Additionally, JICA has expressed its readiness to finance short-term advanced training courses for employees of industry enterprises in Uzbekistan, as well as provide grants for the purchase of equipment for small businesses within the framework of the mini-grant program.
The collaboration between JICA and Uzbekistan signifies a significant step towards the growth and modernization of the country’s leather industry. It is anticipated that the investment will not only boost the industry’s production capacity but also contribute to Uzbekistan’s economy through enhanced exports and employment opportunities.
