Joint Turkmen-Tajik Commission meets in Ashgabat to discuss Trade and Cooperation
The 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation took place in Ashgabat on October 16, 2024. The delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan, led by Deputy Prime Minister S. Ziyozoda, participated in the meeting alongside the Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhalliyev.
During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the progress made on agreements reached during the previous meeting held in Dushanbe in 2023. Discussions focused on current bilateral relations and the importance of implementing agreements effectively.
The agenda of the meeting highlighted key areas of cooperation in trade, economics, and technology. Both sides noted the significance of enhancing economic collaboration over the long term, particularly in industries such as energy, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing. The participants also emphasized the need for increased cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
Humanitarian aspects of the relationship, including education, science, and culture, were also discussed. The positive interaction between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in cultural exchanges and events was recognized. Additionally, opportunities for cooperation in healthcare and sports were explored.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Protocol, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to strengthening their strategic partnership and implementing the agreements reached. The participants expressed confidence in the continued successful development of Turkmen-Tajik relations with new substantive cooperation in the future.
