Journey from the Balkans to Istanbul: Meteorology Forecast for a Day in the Megacity
The false spring that brought warm weather to Istanbul for the past week is coming to an end as a new weather system moves in from the Balkans. The air temperature, which reached 16-17 degrees earlier in the week, is expected to drop to 10 degrees today. The megacity will experience intermittent heavy rain throughout the day and into the night, so residents are advised to be cautious as the rain may be particularly heavy in some areas.
According to the latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, Istanbul is not the only city that will be affected by the weather changes. Rain and showers are expected in various regions across the country, with some areas experiencing sleet and snowfall.
In addition to Istanbul, heavy rainfall is anticipated in places such as Kocaeli, Yalova, Tekirdağ, and Kırklareli, as well as in northern parts of Çanakkale and Balıkesir. Haze, fog, icing, and frost are also expected in central and eastern parts of the country, with avalanche warnings in high-altitude regions in the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia.
Temperatures will vary across different regions, with some cities experiencing partly cloudy skies, while others will see intermittent rain and showers. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of inclement weather.
