Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc Provides Update on Narin Güran Murder Investigation
An investigation is currently underway into the murder of Narin Güran, whose body was discovered in a stream bed 19 days after she went missing on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe Neighborhood of the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. The autopsy revealed that she had been strangled to death.
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc recently made a statement regarding the ongoing investigation, stating that efforts are being made to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the tragic death of Narin Güran. Tunc assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of justice. As of now, 12 suspects are in custody and 3 individuals have been placed under judicial control during the investigative phase. Furthermore, statements from 268 people have been taken, and DNA evidence is being analyzed.
Tunc emphasized that there are camera images and footage being examined, as well as technological data being analyzed by TÜBİTAK. The investigation is proceeding with confidentiality in order to prevent any interference or misinterpretation of facts. Tunc expressed confidence that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be apprehended and brought to justice in due time.
In a separate statement regarding Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, Tunc confirmed that the human rights defender, who had made headlines for her activism, has passed away. The necessary procedures were carried out both in Palestine and Turkey, and Tunc assured that her case will not go unnoticed. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to address the situation at the United Nations General Assembly, and evidence will be presented to the International Court of Justice.
The Justice Minister reiterated his commitment to seeing the investigation through to the end and ensuring that those responsible for the murder of Narin Güran are held accountable for their actions.
