EU Allocates €23 billion in Military Aid to Ukraine for 2025, Calls for Increased Support
The European Union (EU) countries have committed €23 billion in military aid to Ukraine for 2025, but EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, believes that more support is needed for the country. Kallas made these remarks ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
Kallas expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stating, “We see the deadliest attacks in this war, civilians are being killed. And, it is already one month into this period where Ukraine agreed to unconditional ceasefire. We have not seen that from the Russian side. What is clear is that we need to support Ukraine more.”
While acknowledging the progress made with the EU’s ammunition initiative, Kallas emphasized the importance of stepping up support for Ukraine. She pointed out that European countries have already committed €23 billion for this year, an increase from previous years. However, Kallas stressed the need to exert pressure on Russia to end the conflict.
