Karahantepe: Giant Project to Safeguard Historical Heritage Initiates

A new project is underway to protect the historical heritage of Karahantepe, with a focus on preserving the past for future generations. The project involves the construction of a protection roof over the excavation area, ensuring that the ancient artifacts and structures found at the site are safeguarded for years to come.
Minister Ersoy, who is leading the initiative, expressed his excitement about the project and its significance in preserving the millennia-old history of Karahantepe. The protection roof will cover an area of 5 thousand square meters, allowing ongoing excavation work to continue without disturbing the natural surroundings.
The design of the protection roof is modern yet compatible with the historical texture of the site. It features a wavy form that harmonizes with the land and includes openings for natural ventilation, providing a balance of functionality and aesthetics. The roof is also designed to allow for future expansion and adaptability, ensuring that Karahantepe’s heritage can be preserved and studied for generations to come.
Recent discoveries at Karahantepe, such as the wild donkey figure found last summer, highlight the historical importance of the region and the need for preservation efforts. With the new protection roof in place, Karahantepe is taking a significant step towards ensuring that its rich heritage is protected and shared with the world.
