Karakalpakstan Sells Low-Quality Gasoline for 277 Million Soums

Gas Stations Found Selling Low-Quality Gasoline

Recent reports from the Committee for Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of the Republic of Karakalpakstan have revealed concerning findings regarding the quality of gasoline being sold at certain gas stations. During a series of control activities conducted in collaboration with Uzenergoinspektsiya, it was discovered that some gas stations were selling gasoline with octane levels below the required standards.

Gasoline samples were collected from several gas stations including Rafs, Rukhshona Hamid, Suvinshotgazqurilish, Imkon-Khamkor, Ruslan, Tortkolli Bunyod Oil, and Gulnora Gaz Servis for laboratory testing. The results showed that seven of the gas stations were selling low-quality gasoline, particularly with the AI-92 octane level falling below 90, instead of the required 92 as per regulations.

It was also found that over 26 thousand liters of this substandard gasoline were sold in 2023, leading to estimated damages of 277 million soums for consumers. Legal actions have been taken against the responsible entities, with decisions made and instructions given to rectify the situation.

This discovery highlights the importance of quality control measures in the fuel industry and the ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights and ensure the integrity of products being sold at gas stations.
