Kazakh chess player Bibisara Assaubayeva is currently participating in the Global Chess League, which is being held in London from Oct. 3 to Oct. 12, as reported by Kazinform news agency.
The Global Chess League is a unique, team-based chess tournament that aims to bring a fresh perspective to the traditional chess format. In this tournament, both men and women compete together on mixed teams, featuring some of the world’s top players such as five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen and world number two Hikaru Nakamura.

Assaubayeva’s team consists of renowned players like Hikaru Nakamura, Jan-Krzysztof Duda from Poland, Yu Yangyi from China, Elisabeth Paehtz from Germany, and Jonas Buhl Bjerre from Denmark. Together, they aim to showcase their skills and learn from each other during the competition.
The Global Chess League features six teams competing in a rapid format. The teams will go through a double round-robin stage, and the top two teams will advance to the final to compete for the championship. In a unique twist, each team plays with the same color pieces throughout a match, switching only in the rematch.
